Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered a large consignment of materials believed to be destined for insurgents during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State. The operation, conducted by troops of Sector 1 at approximately 4:00 p.m. on July 19, 2026, targeted a suspected terrorist supply route as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle logistics networks sustaining insurgent activities in the North-East, according to a statement by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer of the North-East Joint Task Force.
The troops mounted a covert stop-and-search operation along the suspected route, leading to the arrest of six suspects travelling in five vehicles while conveying a large consignment of items allegedly intended for terrorist elements. Recovered items included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing suspected acid, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps. Preliminary assessments indicate that the recovered materials possess potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, communications, mobility, and sustainment.
Military authorities said the recovered NPK fertiliser and suspected acid would undergo technical and forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the production of Improvised Explosive Devices. “Some of the recovered items, particularly the NPK fertilizers and suspected acid, will undergo further technical and forensic examination to determine their intended use, including any possible application in the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),” Captain Goni said. The military described the seizure as a significant disruption of suspected terrorist logistics networks, noting that it would further degrade the operational capabilities of insurgent groups operating in the region.
The six suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for detailed investigation to identify the intended recipients, uncover the broader logistics network, and facilitate the arrest of other collaborators and sponsors. The military also disclosed that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered families of former terrorists indicate that sustained military operations targeting terrorist logistics and supply chains have severely weakened the operational capacity of insurgent groups. According to the debriefings, persistent shortages of food, medical supplies, communications equipment, and other essential logistics have forced many terrorists to abandon their camps, families, and hostages while fleeing sustained military offensives.
In a related development, troops of Sector 4, Operation Hadin Kai, arrested a 32-year-old Sudanese national, suspected to be a foreign terrorist fighter, alongside a 36-year-old woman who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from the Republic of Ghana. The arrests were made by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion during an intelligence-led operation in Lassa, Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. Preliminary intelligence indicates that the Sudanese suspect has established links with terrorist elements, while the circumstances surrounding the woman’s presence in the area and the authenticity of her claims remain under investigation.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through sustained intelligence-driven operations, stressing that it would continue to target insurgents, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants, and collaborators to deny them the resources and operational capability required to sustain terrorism. The military urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements, and activities, describing public cooperation as critical to the success of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the restoration of lasting peace in the North-East.
