Adamawa Man Dies After Alleged Stick Attack, Suspect Arrested Over 30-Year-Old's Death

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Abubakar Musa in connection with the alleged murder of 30-year-old Nathaniel Yusuf, who died after being attacked with a stick in Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area. The arrest was confirmed on Monday, July 20, 2026, by the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said the suspect was apprehended following a report lodged at the Kofare Divisional Police Headquarters by the victim's sister, Grace Yusuf. According to the police, the sister reported that her brother had been violently attacked by the suspect, prompting officers to respond swiftly to the distress call, rescue the victim, and rush him to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta for urgent medical attention while the suspect was arrested at the scene.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, a broken right hand, and serious head injuries after allegedly being attacked with a stick by the suspect. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Nathaniel Yusuf was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment at the hospital. The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law. The deceased's body has been deposited at the medical facility for an autopsy, while investigations are ongoing.
