Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has made a desperate and emotional appeal to the public, begging for financial assistance to raise N30 million for urgent life-saving surgeries after being hospitalised for three weeks with an undisclosed but severe illness. The 62-year-old screen icon, best known for her iconic role as Peaceful Peace in the popular television sitcom Fuji House of Commotion, shared the heartbreaking plea in a video posted from her hospital bed on her Instagram page on Thursday, July 23, 2026. In the tearful video, which has since gone viral, the visibly weakened actress explained that she has been absent from public view because of her deteriorating health and can no longer remain silent about her condition.
“My fans, friends, family and colleagues, this was really hard for me to do, but I can’t keep quiet any more. I need urgent life-saving surgeries,” Nwosu said in the video, according to multiple reports. She disclosed that she has already spent three weeks in the hospital and is enduring severe pain, with doctors recommending three separate surgeries to save her life. “I have like three surgeries to go through. Please, don’t let me die,” she pleaded, her voice trembling with emotion. “I know that you people never forsake me and I know that God will always see me through, but I’m begging you, my friends and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot as in pain.”
Although the actress did not disclose the nature of her illness, she revealed that the total cost of the three procedures is estimated at N30 million, an amount she confessed she cannot raise on her own. Nwosu urged anyone willing to assist to contact her legal representative or management team, and she also shared her bank account details for direct donations. “Please don’t scroll past. Share this post and support if you can. God bless you and may you and yours never experience this affliction,” she wrote in the post accompanying the video.
The appeal comes 13 years after Nwosu battled kidney- and heart-related complications and received a N4.5 million lifeline from the Lagos State Government to help fund her treatment. In 2013, she travelled to the United Kingdom for surgery after well-meaning individuals donated N2.5 million to complete the N6 million she needed for the procedure. Now, once again, the veteran actress is turning to the public for support as she fights for her life.
Nwosu, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated actresses, has enjoyed a career spanning several decades, earning widespread recognition for her performances in television and film. Since making her acting debut in the television series Ripples, where she portrayed Madam V Boot, she has gone on to feature in over 100 movies, including Circle of Doom, Fake Doctor, A Cry for Help, Tanbolo, Silent Baron, Ije Awele, and The Smart Money Woman, among others.
Her appeal has since drawn reactions from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, many of whom have expressed sympathy and called for support to help her raise the N30 million needed for the surgeries. As the veteran actress battles for her life from her hospital bed, her desperate plea — “Don’t let me die” — has become a rallying cry for the Nigerian public to come to the aid of one of its beloved screen icons in her hour of greatest need.
