Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, deployed in Malumfashi, Katsina State, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Area Command, Malumfashi, have arrested two suspected drug peddlers allegedly involved in supplying illicit substances to terrorists and other criminal elements operating in the state. The joint operation, conducted on Friday, July 24, 2026, targeted Sabuwar Kasa Village in Kafur Local Government Area following credible intelligence on suspected drug trafficking activities. During the raid, security operatives arrested two suspects identified as Hadiza Ibrahim, 35, and Nuhu Rabiu, 40.
Recovered from the suspects were 11.4 grams of Tramadol capsules and an expired Manpower liquid substance, believed to have been intended for illegal distribution. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in supplying hard drugs and other illicit substances to terrorists and criminal elements operating within Kafur Local Government Area and neighbouring communities. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks that provide logistical support to terrorist groups, particularly through the illicit drug trade, as part of broader security efforts in Katsina State and the North-West region.
The suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA Area Command, Malumfashi, for further investigation and necessary legal action. The operation underscores the continued collaboration between the military and the NDLEA in dismantling drug supply networks that sustain terrorist activities. Security sources have described the interception of the drug consignment as a significant blow to the financing and operational capacity of criminal groups in the region.
