The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has reaffirmed September 25, 2026, as the final deadline for the payment of Hajj deposits and registration for the 2027 pilgrimage, warning that no intending pilgrim will be allocated a seat after the closing date. The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, issued the warning in a statement released on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, through the board's Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi.
According to the statement, the board has fixed the Hajj deposit for the 2027 pilgrimage at N8 million and urged all prospective pilgrims to complete their payments and registration before the deadline. "All intending pilgrims should complete their payments and registration before the deadline to secure their places for pilgrimage," Ibrahim-Matawalle said. He stressed that the board would not extend the registration period or allocate Hajj seats to anyone who fails to meet the September 25 deadline.
The Director-General explained that the deadline was necessary to enable the board to carry out effective planning and coordination for the 2027 Hajj exercise. He reaffirmed the board's commitment to conducting a smooth, transparent, and hitch-free pilgrimage operation. Ibrahim-Matawalle also advised intending pilgrims to comply with all registration requirements within the stipulated period to avoid missing the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage.
The board had earlier announced that the sale of Hajj seats and the payment process commenced on Sunday, July 12, 2026, and was initially scheduled to run until September 26, 2026. However, the board has now reaffirmed September 25 as the final deadline, with no extension to be granted. Ibrahim-Matawalle explained that all payments must be made through bank drafts, which should be submitted to Local Government Hajj Centre officers across Kano State.
The Director-General also advised prospective pilgrims to adhere strictly to the official procedures approved by the Kano State Government and avoid dealing with unauthorised individuals or agents. He reaffirmed the board's commitment to providing efficient, transparent, and quality services to ensure that pilgrims from Kano State perform the 2027 Hajj in comfort, safety, and dignity. He expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued support and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims.
The announcement comes amid ongoing preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with the board emphasising the importance of early registration to facilitate smooth arrangements for pilgrims. The board urged all prospective pilgrims across the state to comply with registration procedures and complete their payments promptly to avoid missing the opportunity to undertake the sacred journey. With the countdown to the deadline underway, officials have warned that failure to act before September 25 could result in the loss of a coveted Hajj seat, as preparations for the pilgrimage move into full gear.
