Omotayo Aduke Sanusi, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, has finally broken her silence over a long-standing allegation that linked her marital collapse to two of the industry's biggest stars, Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele. In a detailed statement shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Sanusi—popularly known as Iyanaladuke—firmly denied the viral claims, describing them as completely false and fabricated.
Sanusi said she was compelled to speak out after a video by a social media user identified as Mama Esabod revived the allegations online. The allegations claimed that Toyin Abraham informed Sanusi that Femi Adebayo was romantically involved with another actress during the production of a movie, prompting her to confront those involved and ultimately leading to the collapse of her marriage. The rumours specifically pointed to the production of Jagun Jagun Part 2, where it was alleged that Sanusi confronted Funke Akindele on set. Sanusi rejected every part of that account in her statement.
"The allegation that actress Toyin Abraham was responsible for the problems in my marriage by allegedly informing me that another actress was with my then-partner on a movie set is completely false," she wrote. "For the record, I never confronted, attacked, assaulted, or harassed any woman or man at any movie location. No such incident ever took place."
Sanusi further explained that she was present throughout the entire production in question and actively contributed to its success by overseeing the welfare of the cast and crew. According to her, she and her team catered for more than 500 people throughout the duration of the production as part of her support for her then-husband. "I was present on that production from the very beginning until the end of the shoot. My team and I were solely responsible for the welfare of the entire production, catering for over 500 cast and crew members for more than one month as my contribution and support to my then-partner," she said.
Given the scale of the set, Sanusi questioned how such an incident could have occurred without a single witness. "In a production involving over 500 people, I find it difficult to understand how such an incident could have allegedly occurred without a single witness, or how no one heard or witnessed this falsehood," she added.
In a separate Instagram post, Sanusi also addressed the claims involving Funke Akindele, denying that she had ever accused the award-winning filmmaker of any wrongdoing. She challenged anyone making such claims to produce credible evidence, insisting that allegations should not be presented as facts without proof. "I have never accused Funke Akindele of any wrongdoing. If anyone claims otherwise, let them bring evidence," she said.
Sanusi further challenged anyone who genuinely believed they had been assaulted or harassed by her during the production to publicly come forward. "If anyone genuinely claims to have been attacked or assaulted by me—directly or indirectly—I believe it is only fair that they come forward and make that claim themselves. Until then, I respectfully ask that people stop repeating and amplifying false narratives that have no basis in truth," she stated.
The former actress also explained that her decision to remain silent over the years should not be interpreted as an admission that the allegations were true. She said she had deliberately chosen peace instead of engaging in public disputes and that her latest statement was intended to serve as her official response to the allegation and bring an end to what she described as a false narrative. "I have remained silent out of respect for everyone involved and because I chose peace over public disputes. However, my silence should never be interpreted as an admission that these allegations are true," she said.
The controversy resurfaced after a TikTok blogger alleged that Toyin Abraham told Sanusi that Adebayo and Funke Akindele were romantically involved during the production of Jagun Jagun Part 2, leading to a confrontation on set and eventually the collapse of her marriage. The blogger further claimed that Akindele later influenced some Nollywood producers against Abraham after allegedly discovering that she had instigated the confrontation.
Sanusi, who married Femi Adebayo on October 9, 2016, and has a son with him, said she holds screenshots of private conversations between the parties directly involved but chose not to release them, saying it would not serve anyone to keep the dispute alive in public. Her statement, which she signed off with her full name, Omotayo Sanusi, marks her first public response to the longstanding rumours, as she distances both Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele from the controversy and urges the public to stop amplifying false narratives.
