A phone accessories trader, Sama'ila Abdulkadir, has been reported missing since Friday, July 31, 2026, after he travelled from his base in Gada to Yantumaki Market in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The 38-year-old trader, who is from Mazoji town in Matazu Local Government Area, was on a routine business trip when he seemingly vanished, according to his family and community sources who spoke to journalists on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Sama'ila, who is known to travel extensively across rural markets to sell phone accessories, left for Yantumaki Market on Friday morning. His family said they have not heard from him since then and that his mobile phone remains unreachable. Calls placed to his number go straight to voicemail, and attempts to trace his phone have been unsuccessful. Family members have expressed concern, saying that such prolonged silence is unusual for the trader, who typically checks in with his family during his trips.

The security situation in parts of Katsina State has been volatile, with bandits frequently attacking travellers and rural communities. According to security analysts, the Dan Musa axis has experienced rising insecurity in recent months, with armed groups increasingly targeting travellers and rural traders. The family of the missing trader has appealed to members of the public and security agencies to assist in locating him. They are seeking information from anyone who may have seen him or heard from him since his departure.

Sama'ila's disappearance comes at a time when the North-West region is grappling with escalating banditry and kidnappings. The Katsina State Police Command has intensified efforts to combat crime, but the vastness of the terrain and the porous nature of borders have made it difficult to secure all routes. The family has urged anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to contact the provided number or report to the nearest police station. They have also appealed to the public to share the information widely, hoping that every share could help bring Sama'ila home safely.

As the search continues, the family remains hopeful that Sama'ila will be found alive and well. The community has rallied around them, sharing the missing person alert and praying for his safe return. The Katsina State Police Command has been notified of the disappearance, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward to assist in locating the missing trader.
