A wave of fear has swept through the Girkau community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State following reports that suspected Lakurawa militants have entered the area, prompting urgent calls for immediate military intervention. The alarm was raised on Monday, August 3, 2026, by security analyst and conflict monitor Bakatsine, who disclosed the development in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. According to him, credible reports indicate that the armed group has moved into Girkau, leaving residents gripped by fear over the possibility of an attack. The Lajinge attack, which lasted several hours without any security intervention, saw the assailants operate with impunity, further underscoring the growing threat posed by the group.
