'We Paid ₦3 Million Ransom, But Kidnappers Want More' — Wife of Abducted Ekiti NSCDC Officer Cries Out

The wife of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, has made an emotional appeal to the authorities to intensify efforts towards securing her husband's release, five months after he was abducted by unknown gunmen. Tolulope Bamisaye, wife of Officer Temitope Bamisaye, who was kidnapped on February 14, 2026, while returning from work, disclosed the family's ordeal during an interview on Omo Edema's Oyewami programme on Adamimogo 107.7 FM, Ido-Ekiti, on Thursday night, August 6, 2026.

According to Mrs Bamisaye, the abductors initially demanded a ransom of ₦100 million for her husband's release. She said the family, through intense efforts, managed to raise and pay ₦3 million in the hope of securing his freedom. However, the kidnappers reportedly insisted that Officer Bamisaye would not be released until the full ransom was paid. She further revealed that the family later requested to speak with the officer as proof that he was still alive. Since making that request, she said the abductors have neither contacted the family again nor have their phone numbers been reachable. During previous conversations, the kidnappers mentioned the Idofin area of Kwara State as their location.

Mrs Bamisaye appealed to the NSCDC, other security agencies, the Ekiti State Government, and the Federal Government to intervene and ensure her husband's safe release, stressing that as an officer serving the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his freedom and safety should be of utmost concern to the authorities. The appeal comes amid growing concerns over the rising wave of kidnappings targeting security personnel in the country. Officer Bamisaye's abduction on February 14, 2026, has left his family in agonising suspense for nearly six months, with the kidnappers' silence deepening their anxiety. As the family awaits government intervention, the case highlights the urgent need for more robust measures to secure the release of abducted citizens and protect security personnel who risk their lives in the service of the nation.
