Afrobeats superstar Davido has thrown down the gauntlet to his colleagues in the Nigerian music industry, offering a staggering $1 million cash prize to any artiste bold enough to challenge him in a hit-for-hit battle, while boldly declaring that no contemporary musician has more hit songs than he does. The challenge, made during a recent livestream with streamer Davrel on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, has ignited a firestorm of debate among fans and industry watchers, reigniting the age-old question of who truly reigns supreme in Nigeria's vibrant music scene.
Speaking with characteristic bravado, the Omo Baba Olowo crooner did not mince words about his confidence in his catalogue. “I will put up a $1 million on the table. I will do it versus anybody. A million dollars cash, nobody has more hits than me,” Davido declared during the livestream.
