Two suspected thieves have been killed following a mob action in Nasko, Niger State, after they allegedly attempted to dispossess a commercial motorcyclist of his motorcycle in a violent incident that has once again exposed the growing frustration of citizens with the nation's criminal justice system. The Niger State Police Command confirmed that its operatives responded to the incident on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following reports of the mob action, but by the time security personnel arrived at the scene, the two suspects had already been beaten to death by the angry crowd. The remains of the two deceased men were subsequently recovered by the police and deposited at the General Hospital, Nasko, where they are awaiting autopsy and further investigation.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the two deceased men were allegedly involved in an attempt to rob an Okada rider of his motorcycle when the incident occurred. The police did not disclose the identities of the suspects or the circumstances that led to the mob's decision to take the law into their own hands.
