A visibly furious All Progressives Congress lawmaker in Nasarawa State has stormed the Umaisha General Hospital in the Toto Local Government Area, demanding answers over the whereabouts of medical supplies and equipment he claimed he personally purchased and donated to the facility but could not find during a visit. The lawmaker, whose identity was not disclosed in the video footage that surfaced on social media on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was seen in a clip shared on X by user MaziTundeEdnutfan confronting hospital staff over the disappearance of more than 50 ceiling fans, about 40 standing fans, and 50 orthopedic mattresses he said he bought to improve patient welfare and the working conditions of healthcare workers.
In the video, the lawmaker, whose voice carried the unmistakable weight of betrayal, fired a series of pointed questions at a doctor on duty. "Where are they? Why are you lying to me? I bought over 50 ceiling fans, over 40 standing fans, 50 orthopaedic mattresses," he declared. He reminded the doctor of a prior discussion in which he was allegedly told that the orthopedic mattresses were still in storage at the hospital. "Doctor, you remember the last time I spoke with you about the orthopaedic mattresses, you remember what you told me. Why are you lying to me?" he asked.
The lawmaker stressed that the items were purchased with his personal funds and were intended to benefit the people of his constituency who rely on the hospital for healthcare. He expressed deep dismay over the condition of patients at the facility, despite his donations. "Look at the condition of my people. You are telling me you have taken the mattresses around the wards. I said okay, take me to the wards. Where are they? Let me see them," he said. He recalled that he had previously instructed the management to return the mattresses to a specific location after learning they were still in storage.
The hospital management has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations. The missing items represent a significant loss of resources intended for public healthcare, and the incident has raised serious questions about the integrity of inventory management at the facility. Efforts to obtain a response from the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health or the hospital's administration were unsuccessful as of the time of this report. The lawmaker has vowed to ensure that the items are accounted for, declaring that they were purchased "for my people" and that he would not rest until the matter was resolved. As the investigation into the missing donations continues, the incident has cast a spotlight on the challenges of ensuring accountability in the management of public healthcare resources across Nigeria.
