A fresh storm is brewing in the Nigerian entertainment industry as Big Brother Naija star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has fired back at her colleague Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo and his legal team over an alleged N500 million lawsuit threat. The legal showdown, which has captivated fans and followers, stems from statements Phyna made regarding Sheggz's tumultuous relationship with his ex-girlfriend, fellow BBNaija star Bella Okagbue.
The drama escalated after Sheggz's lawyers reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter to Phyna, demanding that she retract statements she made about him and his family. The legal notice threatened a N500 million lawsuit for defamation of character. Phyna, who has been a vocal supporter of Bella during the fallout from her breakup with Sheggz, has publicly claimed she witnessed Sheggz being physically abusive towards Bella.
In a video response that has since gone viral, Phyna appeared unshaken by the legal threat, questioning why she was being targeted for speaking the truth. Beyond the N500 million legal threat, Phyna made further explosive allegations during her rebuttal, accusing Sheggz of financial misconduct. She disputed claims that Bella owed Sheggz N11 million, instead asserting that Sheggz owed Bella over N30 million. "Sheggz, what you owe Bella is about 30 million Naira," she declared. She also questioned Sheggz's living arrangements, stating, "You get house? You wey dey stay all those Una old house for Ikoyi wey you fence one room and one Parlour for there". Phyna alleged that she had been a pillar of support for Bella, helping her navigate the emotional turmoil caused by her relationship with Sheggz.
Phyna also addressed Sheggz's criticism of her personal lifestyle, accusing him of hypocrisy. She pointed out that while Sheggz allegedly used substances like shisha, vapes, and laughing gas, he condemned her over similar allegations. Additionally, she revealed that several women had contacted her, alleging that Sheggz made plans to take them on private trips. However, she noted that she had chosen not to make the alleged evidence public.
As the feud intensifies, Phyna has warned Sheggz against dragging her into his personal issues, insisting that she will continue to defend Bella based on what she claims to have personally witnessed. “Don’t drag me into your mess,” she cautioned. She maintained that she deliberately stayed out of the fallout between the former couple but decided to speak out after what she described as false claims were made about her.
