The security situation in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State has taken a turn for the worse, as bandits reportedly moved from Nasarawar Burkullu to the small settlement of Gana in the same ward, abducting an unspecified number of residents in the latest wave of terror to grip the troubled North-West region. According to local sources, the gunmen, who had earlier invaded Nasarawar Burkullu, advanced into the Gana settlement on Monday, August 24, 2026, targeting ordinary people simply trying to survive, farm and raise their families. The attack, which occurred without resistance, has left the community in fear, with desperate appeals for urgent security intervention as families await news of their loved ones.
The assault on Gana is part of a troubling pattern of violence that has turned Bukkuyum LGA into one of the flashpoints of banditry in Zamfara State, with armed groups repeatedly attacking villages, rustling cattle, kidnapping residents and forcing thousands to flee their homes.
