Bandits Kill Civil Defence Officer, Abduct Teacher, Women, Babies in Fresh Zamfara Attack as Taketsaba Community Mourns

A fresh wave of terror has descended on Taketsaba village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, killing three residents and abducting at least 10 others, including women and babies. Among the dead was Aliyu M. Taketsaba, a Civil Defence officer serving at the Mafara Division, while a primary school teacher, Tanimu Aliyu Takatsaba, was reportedly among those whisked away by the assailants. The attack, which has deepened fears in the already embattled Talata Mafara axis, was disclosed by conflict analyst Bakastine in a post on his X account on Tuesday.

Bakastine, who had earlier raised the alarm over the presence of armed groups in the area, confirmed that the bandits invaded the community and carried out the assault before escaping with several victims. He had previously called for urgent security intervention in Taketsaba and neighbouring communities, warning that bandits were actively operating in the village. The latest violence has heightened concerns over the safety of residents in the Talata Mafara axis, where armed groups have continued to threaten lives and property.
