Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued 14 victims in Zamfara State, delivering a significant blow to criminal networks terrorizing the North-West. The operation, which took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, was based on credible intelligence regarding suspicious activity around Magazu Village in the Tsafe Local Government Area.

Acting on the information, the troops swiftly mobilized and engaged the armed attackers, forcing them to abandon the area and flee into the surrounding bush. During a subsequent search of the scene, the soldiers were able to locate and rescue the 14 civilians who had been abducted.

One of the victims sustained gunshot wounds during the ordeal and was immediately evacuated to the General Hospital in Tsafe for urgent medical treatment. The military confirmed that no security personnel were injured in the operation.

The rescue is the latest success for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which continues to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, rescue abducted citizens, and restore peace across the North-West region. The troops have been commended for their swift response, courage, and professionalism in saving lives.
