Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducting counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in Kebbi State, have successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim and scuttled a planned ransom exchange. The operation, which took place on Thursday, August 26, 2026, followed credible intelligence about a planned ransom payment for a woman abducted from her farm last month.

Acting on the intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised to intercept the transaction. Upon sighting the advancing troops, the terrorists attempted to engage but were quickly overwhelmed by superior firepower. The engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage. The troops subsequently secured the victim, who was found unharmed. She has since been reunited with her family in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Following the rescue, troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the terrorists' withdrawal route to ensure the area was fully secured before returning safely to base. In a separate but related effort to maintain peace and security in the region, troops also conducted routine clearance and dominance patrols within the Ngaski Local Government Area, which were completed successfully without incident.

Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, acting spokesperson for the operation, stated that Operation FANSAN YAMMA will sustain the heat on terrorists until they abandon their nefarious activities in Kebbi State and the country. "We will keep the fire on everywhere the terrorists are. We will dismantle them to secure Kebbi State and Nigeria," Osoba said. He urged the public to cooperate by sharing intelligence that can thwart attempts to operate easily in the affected areas.
