A violent clash between youths of Buskuwa and Mabani villages in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State has left one person dead and six others injured, the police have confirmed.
The trouble started on Monday, August 24, 2026, at about 8 p.m. Three young men from Mabani – Babangida Musa, 20; Usman Abdu, 20; and Ya’u Muhammad, 18 – were walking to Buskuwa when a group of youths, suspected to be from Buskuwa, attacked them with sticks. The three victims sustained injuries.
But the violence did not stop there.
Just two hours later, around 10 p.m., a man identified as Jumba Adamu allegedly gathered youths from Mabani and led them to Buskuwa for revenge. The mob attacked residents with sticks. In the chaos, one man, Muhammadu Dare, was killed on the spot. Six other people were injured.
The police got a report on Wednesday, August 26, at about 8 a.m. from a 55-year-old resident of Buskuwa. Officers from the Gamawa Division, with help from hunters and vigilantes, moved in quickly. They took the injured and the dead body to the General Hospital in Gamawa. A doctor confirmed Dare dead. Three of the injured were admitted for treatment. Three others were treated and sent home.
Police spokesman SP Nafiu Habib said one suspect has been arrested. More arrests are expected as investigations continue. The case will go to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
