The United States Department of Homeland Security has published the names and photographs of 10 Nigerian nationals currently held in immigration detention facilities across five American states, adding them to its "Worst of the Worst" register of criminal immigrants arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The latest update, published on the official DHS website on Friday, August 28, 2026, comes about seven weeks after US authorities released a much larger list of 124 Nigerians in July. The individuals face charges ranging from wire fraud and identity theft to child-related offences, drug crimes, and aggravated assault.
The 10 Nigerians listed in the latest update are spread across facilities in Pennsylvania, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. Those named and their alleged offences are: Temitope Bashua — wire fraud, identity theft and fraud — Allenwood, Pennsylvania; Ojehoro Lewis — cruelty toward a child — Conroe, Texas; Osemudiamen Kingsley Oziegbe — wire fraud — Louisville, Kentucky; Daniel Oworen — dangerous drugs — Conroe, Texas; Raymond H. Ekevwo — wire fraud — Oxford, Wisconsin; Franklin Dikeocha — sex offence against a child, fondling — Dallas, Texas; Johnson Ogunlana — fraud and identity theft — White Deer, Pennsylvania; Chukwuemeka Okorocha — wire fraud, dangerous drugs, possession of a weapon and aggravated assault involving a non-family gun — Allenwood, Pennsylvania; Tunde Korede — conspiracy — Allenwood, Pennsylvania; and Chukwuemeka Chinye — larceny from a banking-type institution, fraud, larceny, identity theft and conspiracy — Pollock, Louisiana.
DHS said the register was established to draw attention to what it described as the "worst of worst criminal aliens" arrested by ICE. In a statement, Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said: "Every day, the patriots of ICE are working to target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our country. Just yesterday, ICE arrested murderers, pedophiles, kidnappers, and other violent criminals to make America safe again". Mullin added: "Under President Trump's leadership, there will be no safe haven for illegal aliens, including in sanctuary cities which put illegal aliens over their own citizens. We will never apologise for arresting and deporting illegal aliens, because that's how we protect American lives".
Despite the reference to mass deportations, neither the July publication nor the latest update gives a specific deportation date for the Nigerians listed. The latest register also does not state that the 10 individuals have already been deported. Instead, it identifies them as criminal immigrants arrested by ICE and sets out the offences associated with their cases. The 10 names in the latest update were not among the 124 Nigerians contained in the July list previously reported. The development represents a further expansion of the US authorities' public register of Nigerians facing immigration enforcement action, rather than confirmation that all those named have been removed from the country. The publication of names and photographs is consistent with a wider US government approach of disclosing the identities of foreign nationals in immigration custody who carry criminal records or face pending charges before their removal proceedings conclude.
