Former Big Brother Naija housemate Chichi has reignited her long-running public feud with fellow reality television star Phyna, accusing her of repeatedly bringing their past disagreements back into the spotlight while also weighing in on the ongoing controversy surrounding a N15 million celebrity boxing deal.
Chichi made the comments in a strongly worded statement published amid a fresh online dispute involving Phyna. The remarks have once again drawn attention to the strained relationship between the two former Big Brother Naija housemates, whose disagreements have continued to surface publicly since their appearance on the reality show.
According to Daily Post, Chichi said she had moved on from their differences following the 2023 BBNaija reunion programme and claimed that she believed she had already made her position clear at the time.
She nevertheless accused Phyna of continuing to mention her name in public discussions. Chichi linked the latest exchange to the controversy surrounding a N15 million celebrity boxing deal and criticised Phyna's reaction to the dispute.
In one of her most controversial remarks, Chichi said she had “laid enough curses” on Phyna and claimed that events currently affecting the reality star were connected to those alleged curses.
The statement was presented as part of Chichi's response to the latest dispute rather than as an independently established fact. There is no evidence presented in the report establishing any connection between alleged curses and events in Phyna's life.
Chichi also criticised Phyna's conduct during the dispute, accusing her of becoming excessively focused on the money involved in the boxing controversy. She used harsh language while describing Phyna's reaction and questioned why the reality star continued to engage publicly with the matter.
The latest confrontation comes as Phyna has been involved in a separate dispute concerning a proposed celebrity boxing event and an alleged N15 million payment. The controversy has attracted significant discussion among Nigerian social media users and entertainment followers.
Chichi said she had also been approached to participate in the celebrity boxing event but chose not to accept the invitation. She used that decision to argue that her refusal should not be interpreted as desperation for publicity or relevance.
She further challenged Phyna to consider why, in her view, some brands or individuals might be reluctant to associate themselves with her. Chichi also contrasted her own approach to fame with what she described as Phyna's pursuit of attention.
The comments have added another chapter to a feud that has periodically resurfaced since the pair's time in the Big Brother Naija franchise.
Both Chichi and Phyna became prominent Nigerian entertainment personalities through their participation in the reality television programme, building substantial audiences and careers beyond the show.
Phyna emerged as the winner of Big Brother Naija's seventh season in 2022, while Chichi was among the housemates who competed during the same edition. Their relationship and subsequent disagreements have attracted considerable attention from fans of the programme.
Chichi's latest remarks also addressed the broader significance of winning Big Brother Naija. She argued that victory in the reality show should not be regarded as the ultimate measure of success.
According to her, what happens after leaving the programme is more important than winning the competition itself. Her comments appeared to reflect the wider debate among former reality television contestants about how participants translate their popularity into sustainable careers after the show.
The Nigerian reality television industry has increasingly become a major platform for launching careers in entertainment, influencing, fashion, advertising and entrepreneurship. Former housemates often maintain large social media audiences after leaving the programme, making disputes between them particularly likely to generate widespread online attention.
The latest exchange has consequently attracted mixed reactions from social media users. Some have urged the two reality stars to put their differences behind them rather than repeatedly revisiting disagreements from several years ago.
Others have focused on the language used by Chichi and questioned why the dispute continues to generate public confrontation long after the original disagreements emerged.
The controversy also illustrates the extent to which social media has become an extension of Nigeria's entertainment industry. Statements made by celebrities can rapidly circulate across multiple platforms, often prompting reactions from fans, fellow entertainers and online commentators.
Neither Chichi's accusations nor the claims surrounding the alleged curses establish any wrongdoing by Phyna. They remain statements made during a public dispute between two entertainers.
Similarly, Chichi's assertion that certain people may not want to associate their brands with Phyna represents her personal view and should not be interpreted as an independently verified assessment of Phyna's commercial relationships.
The N15 million boxing controversy remains a separate matter from the longstanding disagreement between the two reality stars. The latest comments have nevertheless brought the older feud back into public conversation.
For now, neither side appears to have signalled an end to the latest exchange. With both personalities maintaining significant followings, further statements could continue to attract attention across Nigeria's entertainment and social media landscape.
The renewed dispute has once again demonstrated how disagreements involving prominent reality television personalities can quickly move beyond private differences and become major online entertainment stories.
As reactions continue, some fans are calling for the two former housemates to move forward, while others remain engaged in the back-and-forth. The underlying disagreements, however, remain a matter between the individuals involved, with the latest accusations yet to establish any independent wrongdoing.
