The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspects, including a 15-year-old female juvenile, in a targeted raid on a store suspected of being used for the sale and distribution of illicit drugs in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area. The operation, conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, by operatives of the Department of Operations along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, to intensify the fight against drug trafficking in the state.
The suspects were identified as Anabel Haruna, 18; Terhemen Faith, 19; Kaityo Abigail, 23; Iorkee Eunice, 26; Osomuri Emmanuel, 31; and a 15-year-old female juvenile whose identity was withheld in accordance with legal protections for minors. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operatives acted on credible intelligence that led them to the store, which was being used as a hub for illicit drug sales. During the operation, a subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol, and other suspected illicit substances.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has warned that the command will continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks operating within the state. He stressed that Delta State will not be allowed to become a haven for the illicit drug trade or any form of criminal enterprise, and directed operatives across the command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement against drug dealers and their networks. The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody as investigations continue. The police have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and other forms of criminality across the state, recognising the role of illicit substances in fuelling violent crimes.
