Troops Rescue 10 Kidnapped Civilians in Katsina, Including Six Women and an Infant

Troops of 17 Brigade, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued ten kidnapped civilians in Katsina State, including three men, six women, and an infant. The victims were abducted from Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna communities in Funtua Local Government Area, according to a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West.

The operation began when troops received credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists who had abducted residents from the two communities. Acting swiftly, troops deployed along the Sabuwa axis and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding terrain. The pressure from the pursuing soldiers forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee, leaving the ten victims behind. The rescued civilians were subsequently recovered and are expected to receive medical attention before being reunited with their families.
