Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnapped victims, including six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and a commercial driver, following an attack on their vehicle in Katsina State.
The Deputy Director of Information, Sector 2, 8 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. The victims were travelling from Kaduna to Katsina when armed assailants attacked their commercial vehicle along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area.
Troops responded to a distress call on the evening of September 21, 2026, reporting the attack. The swift intervention forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee the scene.
The driver was identified as Sani Umar. The rescue operation was conducted at about 11:45 p.m. when security forces intercepted a green Volkswagen Golf 3 conveying the victims.
All seven victims were rescued unhurt and subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical evaluation. They were subsequently handed over to designated officials to facilitate their safe reunion with their families and school authorities.
The rescue is part of ongoing operations by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West.
