The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed 12 establishments across different parts of the state over persistent violations of environmental regulations, in a sweeping enforcement operation conducted on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. The affected establishments, located in Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, LASU-Iba Road, Igando and Agodo-Egbe areas, were shut despite repeated warnings, abatement notices and opportunities granted to facilitate compliance with the agency's directives.
According to a statement posted on LASEPA's official X handle on Wednesday, the enforcement exercise was carried out in line with the directives of the Lagos State Government to ensure strict adherence to environmental laws, safeguard public health and promote a cleaner, healthier and safer environment for residents. The agency said the affected establishments were found to have contravened various environmental regulations and failed to implement prescribed corrective measures or comply with directives issued by LASEPA.
Among those sealed was Thrillz Lounge on Odusanmi Street, Ogba, which was shut for noise pollution and non-compliance with the agency's directives. Feixiang Plastic, located along LASU-Ojo Road at Oko Filling Bus Stop, was sealed for non-compliance. Marvel Hotel and Suites, located at Chrisbee Crescent, BRT Bus Stop, Igando, was sealed for noise pollution and non-compliance. Keviz Hotel and Suites on Councilor Ajayi Street, Obadore Bus Stop, LASU-Iba Road, was sealed for obstruction of duty and non-compliance with the agency's directives. DSN Hotel and Suites on Benson Onyeacholen Street, O'Mark Bus Stop, LASU-Igando Road, was sealed for non-compliance.
Also sealed were Rudaj Vegetable Oil on Tanimowo Street, Ologufe Bus Stop, Igando Road, for non-compliance; the Celestial Church of Christ (Aduragbemi Parish) on Adetola Buhari Street, Okerube Bus Stop, Ikotun, for noise pollution and non-compliance; Limas on Aro-Oloye Street, off Abaranje Road, Abaranje, Ikotun, for non-compliance; Nico Hotel and Suites at Ayawo Close, NEPA Bus Stop, Egbe-Isolo Road, Ejigbo, for non-compliance; 10Kobo Night Club on Abanishe Street, off Hostel Road, Agodo-Egbe, for noise pollution and non-compliance; Master Furniture on Coleman Street, Pao Bus Stop, Idimu-Ikota Road, for non-compliance; and Nikky's Executive Bar and Lounge on Governor's Road, Ikotun, for non-compliance with the agency's directives.
Speaking on the enforcement operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through sustained monitoring, regulatory compliance and effective enforcement of environmental standards across Lagos State. Ajayi stressed that environmental compliance is a collective responsibility, noting that LASEPA would continue to intensify enforcement actions against individuals, businesses, religious organisations and corporate bodies whose activities pose risks to the environment, public health and the wellbeing of Lagos residents. He urged business owners, facility operators, religious institutions, scrap dealers and residents across the state to embrace environmentally responsible practices, obtain all necessary permits and approvals, comply fully with applicable environmental regulations and cooperate with LASEPA in its efforts to build a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Lagos.
The enforcement action is the latest in a series of operations carried out by LASEPA in 2026 as part of its sustained campaign against environmental violations. In March 2026, the agency sealed a church, a mall, hotels and other establishments across Satellite Town, Ikotun-Idimu Road and Egbe Road for persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The affected establishments included Power Exploits Ministry International, Kafe Mall, Mingles Hotel and Ojei Golden Gate. In April 2026, LASEPA sealed multiple establishments, including religious houses and businesses, over violations of environmental laws and regulations, including noise and air pollution. In June 2026, the agency sealed 13 establishments across the state for violating environmental regulations, including the Cherubim and Seraphim Church on Olumuyiwa Jacobs Street, Aguda, Surulere, which was shut for noise pollution. In August 2026, LASEPA sealed 11 establishments across Agege and Mushin areas, including the Akorohunfayo Central Mosque on Akorohunfayo Street, Fadeyi, Mushin, which was sealed over noise pollution. In September 2026, the agency sealed eight establishments across several parts of Lagos, including Hollysee Hotel Suites on Adebowale Close, off Fatade Road, Baruwa-Ipaja, which was sealed over noise pollution.
The recurring enforcement actions reflect the agency's determination to hold establishments accountable for environmental violations, particularly noise pollution, which has become a major concern in Lagos State. The sealing of churches and mosques has been a sensitive issue, with religious institutions arguing that they are being unfairly targeted. However, LASEPA has maintained that religious organisations are not exempt from environmental regulations and that all establishments must comply with the law. The agency has also emphasised that it has adopted a gradual enforcement approach, issuing warnings and abatement notices before resorting to sealing premises. The fact that the affected establishments refused to comply despite repeated warnings and opportunities to regularise their operations was cited as the reason for the enforcement action.
The enforcement operation is expected to serve as a deterrent to other establishments that are operating in violation of environmental regulations. LASEPA has said it will continue to monitor compliance and take action against defaulters. The agency has also called on residents to report environmental violations in their communities, stressing that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. For the 12 establishments sealed on Tuesday, the message from LASEPA is clear: comply with environmental laws or face the consequences.
