A three-year-old girl is receiving medical and psychological care in Saki, Oyo State, after she was allegedly defiled by a 17-year-old boy who police say forcefully took her into his apartment. The suspect, identified as Usman Dauda, was arrested on September 17, 2026, following a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station.
According to the Oyo State Police Command, the child went missing while she was being picked up from school that afternoon. The distress report was filed at about 6:00 p.m. after family members could not find her. A localized search was launched, and the child was later recovered by the roadside in a state of distress. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspect had allegedly taken her into his apartment, where the assault occurred.
Detectives visited the scene, secured it, and arrested Dauda. Critical physical evidence linked to the offence was recovered. The young survivor was rushed to a medical facility in Saki, where she is currently receiving comprehensive clinical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.
The case has been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution. The police command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against child abuse and sexual violence. It also stated that the privacy, dignity, and identity of the survivor and her family would remain fully protected in line with the Child Rights Act and established ethical guidelines.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any acts of violence against children or vulnerable persons to the nearest police facility. The arrest of a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the defilement of a three-year-old child is not an isolated incident.
