The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state. The incident, which the police have described as a case of parricide, has left residents of the quiet rural community in shock and raised troubling questions about violence within families.
According to a statement issued by the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the tragedy unfolded on September 21, 2026. The Bindawa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man, a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, had been found lying motionless in front of his residence. The report immediately raised concerns among community members, and police detectives were swiftly deployed to the scene.
The victim was evacuated and rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention. However, he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor upon arrival. Preliminary investigations, according to the police, led to the arrest of the deceased's son, Sada Tambai. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, resulting in fatal injuries. The police did not disclose the motive behind the alleged attack, leaving the community to grapple with unanswered questions about what could have driven a son to kill his own father.
The late Adamu Tambai was a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village and was known within the community as a respected elder. The command also extended its condolences to the deceased's family and assured the public that it remained committed to ensuring that justice was served.
