Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, has donated and energised a 500KVA transformer for residents of Peace Highland Community in Arimoro, Ilesa West Local Government Area of Osun State, bringing an end to years of inadequate electricity supply and delivering what his office described as a significant contribution to the development and wellbeing of the community.

The donation, contained in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday, formed part of the senator’s commitment to reducing poverty and delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents. Speaking on the lawmaker’s behalf, his Head of Media and Public Enlightenment, Mr Omole Omo-Osodi, commended the people of Peace Highland Community for their patience and commitment to good governance. “On behalf of my principal, Distinguished Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, I congratulate the people of Peace Highland Community for their patience and commitment to good governance. Your trust in Senator Fadahunsi has paid off and will continue to pay off,” he said. “I urge you to maintain this transformer as your personal property. Today, the 500KVA transformer has been energised for your use. Protect it and guard it as you would your personal property.”

The energisation of the transformer is the latest in a series of electricity interventions Fadahunsi has facilitated across Osun East. In December 2025, the senator donated a transformer to Zone 2, Orita-Iloko Community in Ilesa, drawing commendation from the leadership and residents of the area. The recurring nature of these interventions reflects the persistent infrastructure deficits in many communities across the senatorial district, where access to reliable electricity remains a significant challenge. For residents of Peace Highland Community, the new transformer represents not only an improvement in their daily living conditions but also a potential catalyst for small businesses, artisans and households that have long operated under the constraints of unstable power supply.

The community chairman, Comrade Olatunde Sunday Fatunbarin, commended the senator for his unwavering dedication and support for residents across the community and the wider Osun East Senatorial District. He expressed appreciation for the senator’s intervention, describing the provision and energisation of the transformer as a significant contribution to the development and wellbeing of the community. The community’s gratitude reflects a broader pattern of engagement between Fadahunsi and his constituents, who have repeatedly acknowledged his responsiveness to their infrastructure and welfare needs.

The donation was accompanied by a direct political appeal. Omo-Osodi urged residents to come out in their numbers on January 16, 2027, to vote for the All Progressives Congress and support candidates committed to delivering the dividends of democracy. “I urge you all to come out in your numbers on January 16, 2027, and vote for the progressive candidates of the APC. Vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, vote for Distinguished Senator Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi, OFR, and vote for Hon. Emmanuel Olusanya Omirin for continuity,” he said. The appeal aligns the community-level infrastructure delivery with the broader electoral objectives of the ruling party in Osun State, where Fadahunsi is seeking re-election and where the APC is working to consolidate its support ahead of the presidential poll.

Fadahunsi’s support for President Tinubu is long-standing and publicly documented. In May 2025, the three PDP senators from Osun State, including Fadahunsi and Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi of Osun Central, broke ranks with their party to endorse Tinubu as their sole and legitimate presidential candidate for 2027. The endorsement was formalised at a meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, where the senators praised the President for his interventions in their respective senatorial districts. Fadahunsi specifically commended Tinubu for approving funds in the 2025 Appropriation Bill for the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ilesa Expressway, a major transport corridor critical to economic activity in Osun State. He also cited the proposed Federal School of Nursing in Ijebu-Jesa, the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Obokun, and a Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Ile-Ife as federal projects earmarked for Osun East, initiatives he said the President had pledged to support.

In a September 2026 interview with the New Telegraph, Fadahunsi reiterated his position that Osun should support Tinubu in 2027 despite the economic hardship many Nigerians are experiencing. “Osun should vote for President Tinubu because leadership must be judged not only by today’s difficulties but also by the foundation being laid for tomorrow,” he said. “I understand the pain Nigerians are going through, and nobody should pretend that the hardship is not real. But Tinubu inherited serious economic problems and has taken difficult decisions to correct them.” He argued that Osun’s agrarian economy stood to benefit from the President’s policies, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure and support for small businesses, and urged voters not to abandon a reform programme simply because the early stages were difficult.

The donation to Peace Highland Community comes amid a charged political environment in Osun State. Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party won the August 2026 governorship election, defeating the APC candidate in a contest that Fadahunsi has described as distinct from the presidential race. The senator’s argument is that the APC’s loss in the governorship election does not diminish President Tinubu’s relationship with Osun or the federal projects his administration has attracted to the state. Whether that argument resonates with voters in Osun East will be tested at the polls in January, when Fadahunsi will seek re-election to the Senate alongside the presidential contest. For now, the energisation of the transformer in Peace Highland Community represents a tangible delivery of infrastructure to a constituency that has long demanded it, and a reminder that in Nigerian politics, the provision of basic services and the pursuit of electoral support often travel together. As Omo-Osodi put it, the trust the community placed in Senator Fadahunsi has paid off, and he urged them to protect the transformer as their own property.
