Troops operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have reportedly rescued two people who were allegedly being abducted by armed terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to an eyewitness account shared on Sunday, the incident occurred on the road while troops of Sector 2 were conducting a routine patrol in the area.
The eyewitness said the soldiers spotted armed men attacking two people who were travelling on a motorcycle.
The troops reportedly moved towards the scene after noticing the attack, forcing the armed men to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding area.
The two people were subsequently rescued by the soldiers.
The account did not disclose the identities of the rescued victims or indicate whether they sustained injuries during the incident.
It also did not state whether any of the suspected terrorists were arrested or whether weapons were recovered during the operation.
Following the incident, security forces were said to have intensified patrols along the Anka–Gadan Manya axis in an effort to prevent further attacks and restrict the movement of armed groups operating in the area.
The increased patrols are also expected to provide reassurance to residents and travellers who use the road, which connects communities within Anka Local Government Area.
The reported rescue comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of Zamfara State, where armed groups have carried out attacks, abductions and other violent activities in several communities and along major roads.
The eyewitness described the troops’ intervention as timely, saying their quick response prevented the two travellers from being taken away by the attackers.
However, the account has not been independently verified by the Nigerian Army or another official security agency as of the time of reporting.
Details concerning the exact time of the incident, the identities of the victims, the number of attackers and their escape route were also not immediately available.
There was equally no immediate official statement confirming arrests arising from the operation.
The reported intervention nevertheless highlights the importance of security patrols along vulnerable roads in Zamfara, particularly routes used by residents travelling between rural communities.
Residents in the affected area are expected to continue cooperating with security personnel by providing information on suspicious movements and activities.
Further details are expected if the Nigerian Army or the authorities issue an official account of the operation.
For now, the eyewitness account indicates that two people who were allegedly being abducted along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road were rescued after troops conducting a patrol reportedly intervened and forced the attackers to flee.
