A 16-year-old girl, Salomi Ishaya, has been killed by unidentified assailants in Luwaran village, Kawam District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Ishaya was reportedly attacked on Sunday evening, October 4, 2026, while returning home after visiting a river in the community.

According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the incident was reported to troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace, stationed in Jengre. The troops reportedly mobilised to the community at about 7:00 p.m. following the report of the attack.

On arrival, the troops found the teenager dead, while the attackers had reportedly escaped before security personnel reached the scene.

Her remains were subsequently recovered and taken to the mortuary of the Seventh-day Adventist Hospital Mission in Jengre.

Security personnel, alongside Keystone Security operatives in Jengre, have since commenced efforts to identify and apprehend those behind the killing.

The circumstances that led to the attack remain unclear. Security sources said the motive had not been established as of the time of reporting.
