Suspected bandits have abducted four residents, including a pregnant woman and a six-month-old baby, during a night raid on Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:30pm on Monday, October 5, 2026, when the attackers entered the estate and moved from house to house in search of victims.
The victims were identified as a pregnant woman, a man, his wife and their six-month-old child.
Abdulladir Bello, the husband of the pregnant woman, confirmed the incident, saying he was in Abuja when his wife contacted him after noticing that people were attempting to force their way into their compound.
Bello said he initially tried to reach the police for assistance but could not get through. He subsequently contacted the military, which he said responded by deploying personnel to the area.
According to him, the attackers eventually broke into a neighbouring residence and abducted a man, his wife and their infant before fleeing with his pregnant wife.
Bello later received a call from the abductors, who reportedly demanded a large ransom for the release of his wife.
He commended the military for responding to the emergency and urged residents to maintain cooperation with security agencies as authorities work to address insecurity in the area.
Another resident whose home was reportedly targeted during the raid said he managed to escape with his family.
The resident said the attackers entered several houses across the estate and searched for people to abduct.
He explained that he had moved to the estate about four years ago after bandit attacks forced him to leave his previous community in the Keke B area of Kaduna.
The latest incident, he said, had revived fears among residents who had moved to Millennium City in search of a safer environment.
“We thank God nobody was killed. We pray that those abducted will return safely to their families,” the resident said, according to reports.
The attack has raised fresh concerns over security in Millennium City and surrounding communities, particularly following another reported attack in the area days earlier.
A separate attack at PW Babban Saura reportedly left one person dead, while his wife, son and several other residents were abducted.
The latest incident has also prompted calls for increased security presence and improved emergency response mechanisms in the area.
Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan could not be reached for comment when reports of the latest incident were filed. Consequently, the police have yet to publicly provide details on the number of attackers involved, the circumstances surrounding the abductions or any ongoing rescue operation.
The latest incident adds to continuing security concerns in parts of Kaduna State, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger protection of communities and faster responses to distress calls.
As of the latest reports, the four victims remained in the custody of their abductors, while efforts to secure their safe release were ongoing.
