Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has reiterated that the Imo Charter of Equity remains a guiding principle for fairness, unity, and inclusiveness in the state’s political process.
Speaking at the Government House in Owerri while receiving a cross section of Owerri Zone leaders and stakeholders on a courtesy visit, the Governor stressed that the Charter was not created to sow confusion but to promote peace and political balance among all zones in the state.
“For the peace and progress of every individual and zone in Imo State, the Charter of Equity was birthed to address any perceived political imbalance. It is, therefore, not a slogan for confusion but a guiding principle for inclusiveness and fairness,” Uzodimma said.
He urged leaders from Owerri Zone to work in harmony with other zones, ensuring that the process of electing government officials remains democratic, devoid of confrontation, and anchored on collective interest.
“The Charter of Equity should not be reduced to a tool for disunity or political agitation. Instead, we must enthrone unity and collective interest across all zones,” he added.
Governor Uzodimma further encouraged stakeholders to remain focused on government-driven policies designed to address security challenges, bridge development gaps, and improve the livelihood of Imo citizens.
