Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has restated his administration’s dedication to infrastructural renewal and inclusive growth in Asaba, pledging sustained investment in projects that will transform the state capital into a modern and livable city.

The Governor made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, and his delegation to Government House.

Speaking on ongoing efforts in the capital, Governor Oborevwori assured that his administration was accelerating major projects to improve mobility, security, and the overall urban landscape.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that the storm drainage projects are delivered on schedule, the Abraka to Nnebisi Road is fully resurfaced, and new medians with streetlights brighten our city at night,” he said. “Some of the key contracts have been re-awarded to guarantee faster completion because we owe it to our people to deliver results on time.”

He also highlighted Delta State’s collaboration with the Federal Government on the access road to the Second Niger Bridge, describing it as a lifeline for regional trade and national integration.

“The Second Niger Bridge is not just an Asaba project; it is a national asset. Our partnership with the Federal Government ensures that the access road is completed quickly, bringing immense relief to commuters and traders,” the Governor stated.

The Governor further revealed that a Comprehensive Master Plan has been budgeted for in 2025 to guide the capital’s sustainable growth. He assured the royal delegation that concerns raised over schools, police outposts, healthcare facilities, and electricity supply would be treated with urgency.

“Your Majesty, I want to assure you that these concerns will not be overlooked. We are building a capital city that serves everyone, and your guidance helps us stay connected to the people’s real needs,” he noted.

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi Azinge, commended the Governor for his visible strides in infrastructure and governance.

“We have seen the changes on our roads, the improvement in drainage, and the beautification of our city. These efforts give us confidence that Asaba is being positioned for greatness,” the monarch said. “We urge you to continue on this path of inclusive leadership, as our people stand behind you.”

The traditional ruler also stressed the importance of addressing social services, particularly in education and healthcare, to complement the physical infrastructure.

Governor Oborevwori, in response, emphasized that his administration remains open to continuous dialogue with traditional institutions and community leaders, which he described as partners in grassroots governance.

“Development cannot happen in isolation. We value your advice and your prayers, and we will continue to walk this journey together for the progress of Asaba and Delta State,” he concluded.
