Suspected bandits have reportedly attacked Nurul Siraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna State, abducting several residents despite an alleged exchange of gunfire with military personnel. The incident has raised renewed concerns about security in the residential district, which has experienced repeated kidnappings in recent weeks.
According to preliminary information received on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the attackers reportedly entered Nurul Siraj Estate between midnight and 1 a.m. Armed men allegedly seized several residents before fleeing the area with their captives. The exact number of people abducted and their identities have not been independently established.
Troops were reportedly involved in an exchange of gunfire with the attackers, but the armed men were said to have escaped with the victims. The account did not establish when the soldiers arrived, how long the confrontation lasted or whether anyone sustained injuries.
Stone Reporters News has not independently verified the reported military engagement or obtained an official confirmation of the latest abductions from the Kaduna State Police Command or the Nigerian Army.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in Millennium City, a residential district in Chikun Local Government Area that has experienced several attacks involving suspected kidnappers.
Earlier this month, armed men abducted members of a family and a pregnant woman during an attack on Alrahus Estate in the same district. Among those taken were Ahmed Zakka, his wife, Nafisah, and their infant daughter, Fatima.
The family's ordeal attracted national attention after a video circulated showing them in captivity. Zakka appealed for assistance in securing their release, saying the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦300 million.
The family subsequently regained freedom on October 15 after nine days in captivity. The circumstances of their release, including whether any ransom was paid, were not publicly established.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani later visited the rescued family and pledged support for their recovery, including medical assistance and housing.
The latest reported incident at Nurul Siraj Estate is separate from the earlier Alrahus Estate kidnapping. There is currently no verified evidence establishing that the same individuals or criminal group carried out both attacks.
In response to previous security incidents, the Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of 12 suspects during operations targeting kidnapping networks in Millennium City and neighbouring Maraban Rido.
According to the command, eight of those arrested were suspected kidnappers, while four others were accused of supplying information to criminal groups. Police also reported recovering AK-47 rifles during the operations.
The arrests were announced on October 13 following coordinated security activities involving police personnel and other agencies.
Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said the operations included targeted raids, patrols and efforts to identify individuals allegedly assisting kidnapping gangs.
The command also disclosed that the Kaduna State Government had provided three additional armoured personnel carriers to strengthen security operations in the affected communities.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu directed the deployment of additional tactical personnel and operational vehicles to improve surveillance and response capabilities.
The police acknowledged that the location of Millennium City, including its proximity to forested areas, presented challenges for security operations. Authorities urged residents to report suspicious movements and cooperate with security personnel.
However, those earlier announcements do not establish the nature of the security response to the latest reported attack at Nurul Siraj Estate.
It remains unclear whether the victims have been contacted by their families, whether any demands have been made by the abductors or whether security agencies have commenced a specific rescue operation.
No verified information has established the number of attackers involved or the direction in which they fled.
The alleged exchange of gunfire with troops also requires confirmation from military authorities before the circumstances can be reported as established fact.
For affected residents, the immediate concern is the safety of those reportedly taken during the overnight incident.
The latest account adds to concerns surrounding the security of residential communities in Millennium City, where previous kidnappings have prompted increased police operations and government intervention.
Further information from the police, military authorities and affected families will be necessary to establish the number of victims, the sequence of events and the measures being taken to secure their release.
Stone Reporters News will continue to follow developments and report confirmed information as it becomes available.
