Kaduna — The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Host Communities and Member representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim Ahmed, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement confirming the move, Ahmed expressed deep appreciation to the PDP for what he described as a long and rewarding political journey that provided him with valuable opportunities and helped shape his legislative career.

The lawmaker, however, explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with his constituents and was ultimately driven by the need to align more closely with their developmental goals and aspirations.

“As a representative of my people, it is my duty to listen to their voices, yearnings, and aspirations,” Ahmed declared. “After wide consultations and careful consideration, I have decided to formally resign my membership of the PDP and officially join the APC.”

While reaffirming his respect for PDP leaders and members, Ahmed said the switch was necessary to ensure effective representation and deliver tangible results to the people of Kaduna South. He emphasized his continued commitment to advancing the constituency’s development through quality legislative representation and meaningful projects.

“I look forward to continuing to work hand in hand with all stakeholders for the progress of Kaduna South Federal Constituency and our nation as a whole,” he added.

The defection marks another high-profile loss for the PDP, adding to a growing list of lawmakers who have crossed to the APC in recent months, a trend that analysts suggest could significantly reshape the political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.
