The Nigeria Police Force has recorded fresh successes in its fight against violent crime, with coordinated operations in Kebbi and Abia States leading to the rescue of kidnapped victims and the dismantling of a criminal network.
In Kebbi, three residents abducted from Sangara Village, Shanga LGA, were freed after security operatives stormed Shanga Hills and engaged their captors in a gun battle. In a separate patrol around Danko/Wasagu LGA, two other kidnap victims taken from Zamfara State’s Gairi Forest were rescued without injury and have since rejoined their families.
Meanwhile, in Abia State, police operatives acting on intelligence raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Umuiku Obete Village, Ukwa West LGA. Five members of the gang, known for terrorizing commuters along Port Harcourt Road, were neutralized in the encounter. Arms and ammunition, including six AK-47 rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and operational gear, were recovered at the scene.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery, urging them to sustain the momentum in the nationwide crackdown on criminal elements. He assured citizens that the Force remains committed to making communities safer and protecting lives and property across the country.
