The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, has unveiled the 6th Verdict, a compendium of published news reports, analyses, features, columns, commentaries, discourses, editorials, selected speeches, and an updated scorecard documenting the sixth year of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s administration, spanning May 29, 2024, to May 29, 2025.

The 260-page document, which has 21 sections, is the sixth in the series, with the first, First Verdict, launched in August 2020. Initiated by Zulum’s late spokesperson, Malam Isa Gusau, the compendium is the result of a year-long effort by a dedicated team that collates and documents governance processes, policies, programmes, and media discourses throughout the governor’s tenure.

Highlights of the 6th Verdict include achievements in education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, agriculture, water resources, resettlement, reconstruction, commerce, workforce development, and women’s affairs. In education, the compendium captures reforms such as new school establishments, scholarships, housing, and increased enrolment, while the healthcare section records interventions in primary healthcare, medical workers’ welfare, and management systems.

Security interventions also feature prominently, with 27 news articles and a commentary detailing operations, patrol logistics, and welfare packages. Additionally, the compendium covers resettlement, cultural milestones, economic planning, religious engagements, flood disaster responses, and regional collaborations through the North-East Governors’ Forum.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the Council Chamber in Maiduguri, was attended by senior government officials, including the Acting Chief of Staff and publisher of the compendium, the Commissioners of Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, Women Affairs Commissioner Hajjiya Zuwaira Gambo, Deputy Chief of Staff Alhaji Haruna Tela, and other dignitaries such as Alhaji Tijjani Goni, Special Adviser on Livestock Development, and Abdulkarim Haruna, Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State.
