Benue Youths Congratulate New Speaker, Pledge Full Support for His Leadership

In a show of solidarity and unity, the Benue State Youth Leader, Hon. Gbenda Terver, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Very Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Youth Organization and Illegal Levies, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, led a delegation of Benue youths on a congratulatory visit to the new Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga.

The visit highlighted the strong synergy between the state’s youth and the legislative arm of government, which is now being steered by one of their own. Describing Emberga as a “partner in the developmental struggles of the state,” the youths reaffirmed their commitment to supporting his leadership for the overall progress of Benue.

During the visit, Hon. Gbenda Terver formally congratulated the Speaker on his elevation, assuring him of the unwavering support of Benue youths. He expressed optimism that Emberga’s leadership would bring a fresh wave of innovation and inclusivity to the state legislature.

In response, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga expressed appreciation to the youths for their steadfast loyalty to the Alia-led administration and for their active role in advancing the state’s development agenda. He stressed the importance of collective effort in governance, noting that “what cannot be achieved individually can be achieved collectively,” while pledging to remain closely aligned with the youths in the pursuit of accelerated growth for Benue State.

The visit was attended by several prominent youth leaders and organizations, including Hon. Terfa Nyon (Makurdi Youth Leader), Hon. Orpin Clement, Hon. Moses Bende (Jechira Youth Leader, Makurdi), Hon. Akaabo Jacob (Alia Generational Youth Leader), Edmond Akende Edmond, Hon. John Avine John, Hon. John Iortim John, as well as members of the Takuruku Cultural Entertainment Group and other youth associations across the state.
