Federal Government Commends CORFEPS for Strengthening Governance and Public Service Efficiency

The Federal Government has lauded the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its impactful contributions toward enhancing governance and efficiency in the public sector. The commendation was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, during a courtesy visit by the CORFEPS delegation led by its National Chairman, former SGF, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, to the SGF’s office in Abuja.

Senator Akume acknowledged the advisory documents submitted by CORFEPS to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting their role in providing informed guidance across critical sectors of the economy. He assured the delegation that the President, as a listening leader, would carefully consider their recommendations in shaping government policies. The SGF further commended the council members for their distinguished service in the Federal Civil Service and affirmed the administration’s commitment to leveraging their wealth of experience for national development.

In his remarks, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed emphasized CORFEPS’s readiness to support the present administration through its advisory role, ensuring effective public service delivery. He highlighted the council’s recent submissions to President Tinubu, which include advisory documents on Strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda (13th March 2024), Enhancing Government Food Security Agenda (26th August 2024), and Deportation of Foreigners from the USA: Implications to Nigeria (19th December 2024). Additionally, CORFEPS has forwarded an advisory document on Tax Reform Agenda to the National Assembly for consideration.

The engagement underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive governance by integrating the expertise of seasoned public servants into policy formulation and implementation, reinforcing the administration’s focus on efficiency, accountability, and sustainable development.
