Senate Unseals Office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, ending the period in which her workspace had remained inaccessible.

The action was carried out by Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, who removed the seal that had been in place since March 6, following the Kogi Central senator’s six-month suspension over alleged gross misconduct and violations of Senate rules.

At this time, it remains unclear whose directive led to the removal of the seal or whether Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been cleared to resume work when the Senate reconvenes on October 7.

The development comes despite the Senate’s previous stance that she would not be allowed to return to her office until her ongoing case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio is resolved in court.
