Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State has been thrown into mourning and heightened tension following a deadly armed attack along the Mari–Dinna axis that left at least nine people dead, including three soldiers and six civilians, in what security sources describe as a coordinated and deliberate assault on both military personnel and vulnerable communities.
The attack, which occurred in a rural corridor known for its difficult terrain and limited security coverage, unfolded when heavily armed gunmen suspected to be part of organised criminal or insurgent networks launched an ambush on troops deployed in the area.
