President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the Gateway International Airport in Ogun State, describing the project as a transformative economic asset while commending Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he termed visionary leadership and effective deployment of public resources.
The commissioning ceremony, held in Iperu within the Ikenne axis of the state, formed part of a broader official visit during which several large-scale infrastructure and economic initiatives were unveiled. The airport, formally known as the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, represents one of the most ambitious subnational aviation projects in Nigeria, designed to function as both a passenger and cargo hub serving the southwestern region.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu emphasized that infrastructure development remains central to his administration’s economic strategy, stating that investments in transport, energy, and logistics are intended to lay the foundation for long-term prosperity.
