The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni in Rivers State. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Pro-Chancellor, governing council members, and principal officers of the university. This development marks a new era of academic excellence in the region and is expected to provide opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and skills in environmental science and technology.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council is Prof. Don Mon Baridam, a renowned professor of Management with a specialization in Organizational Behavior. Prof. Baridam is a highly respected academic with a wealth of experience in management and leadership. He is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight to the university.
Prof. Chinedu Mmom, a professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Port Harcourt, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Mmom is a seasoned academic with a strong background in environmental science and management. He is expected to provide leadership and direction to the university's academic and administrative programs.
The governing council is comprised of a diverse team of individuals from different regions of the country. They include Mr. Emmanuel Onoja from the North Central, Mr. Hamid Adekunle from the South West, Prof. Chima Oji from the South East, and Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Lamda from the North West. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the university's governing council.
The President has also appointed principal officers to support the university's operations. They include:
