In a strategic move to strengthen internal structures and ensure smooth conduct of its upcoming congresses, the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated two key committees: the Zoning Committee and the Disciplinary Committee.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the PDP State Secretariat along Pipeline Road in Ilorin and was presided over by the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed.
The Zoning Committee will be chaired by Hajia Nimota Aduke Ibrahim, a respected member of the PDP National Board of Trustees (BoT), while Barrister Michael Aborishade, the State Legal Adviser, will head the Disciplinary Committee.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Mohammed expressed gratitude to the leader of the party in Kwara State and President of the 8th Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, for his consistent guidance and leadership. He underscored the importance of the committees in shaping the party’s internal processes ahead of the congresses.
“This committee is coming at a time when our congresses are already staring at us,” Mohammed stated. “I urge all members to put the interest of the party above personal interests and work with dedication. I assure you of the full support and cooperation of the State Working Committee (SWC) as you carry out your responsibilities.”
In their remarks, both committee chairs expressed appreciation for the trust placed in them by the party leadership. They reaffirmed their readiness to work diligently and in unity to position the PDP for electoral success as the 2027 general elections approach.
“We will not betray the trust and honor bestowed on us. Our commitment is to the party’s growth and victory,” said Hajia Nimota Ibrahim and Barrister Aborishade, speaking on behalf of their respective committees.
The inauguration ceremony drew a large turnout of party faithful, supporters, and key stakeholders from across the state. The PDP Secretariat was filled to capacity, reflecting strong grassroots enthusiasm and solidarity behind the party’s preparations.
With these committees now in place, the Kwara PDP signals its readiness to engage party members in a transparent, inclusive, and disciplined congress process — a critical step in fortifying its structure ahead of future electoral battles.
