Members of the Kwara State Artisan Congress have praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support since 2019, highlighting his consistent empowerment initiatives that have directly impacted the artisan community across the state.
Speaking during a special meeting in Ilorin on Tuesday, which the Governor briefly attended, the Chairman of the Congress, Alhaji Jimoh Adesina, expressed deep appreciation for the administration’s commitment to uplifting local tradesmen and women. He noted that many members have benefited from various government social investment schemes, which have significantly improved their socio-economic conditions.
Adesina further stated that the Governor's support was pivotal in acquiring land for the Congress’s permanent secretariat, now under construction. “This administration has consistently supported us—not just in words, but in impactful action,” he said. “From empowerment grants to skill-building initiatives, our members feel the government's presence in their lives.”
Joining the Governor on the visit were key government officials including the Commissioner for Works, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo; Senior Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Saadu Salau; Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah; and Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Danmegoro.
While addressing the Congress, Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting artisans and entrepreneurs through targeted interventions and developmental programs. “We recognize your role in building a stronger economy. That’s why we will continue to prioritize your welfare and empower your businesses,” the Governor said.
He also assured the Congress that their requests, including completion of their secretariat and provision of mobility support, would receive due attention.
The meeting had in attendance several prominent figures, including the BoT Chairman of the Artisan Congress, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Idowu; Alangua of Gaa-Akanbi, Alhaji Abdulyekeen Usman Akanbi; and Lady Vice Chairman of the Association, Chief (Mrs.) Atoyebi Olayinka, among others.
