In a heartwarming ceremony held in Niger State, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, officially launched the Women Economic Empowerment Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative, in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

The flag-off event, though symbolic in scale, marked the beginning of a major national empowerment drive that will positively impact the lives of 18,500 Nigerian women. Of these, 500 women from Niger State are set to benefit directly from a grant of ₦50,000 each — a powerful affirmation of belief in the strength, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerian women.

> "These grants are not loans. They are gifts of belief in the hard work, resilience, and potential of Nigerian women," stated Her Excellency, expressing deep appreciation to the First Lady for her commitment to national upliftment.

The First Lady's presence was described as motherly and symbolic, reinforcing her tireless efforts to restore dignity and hope for women across the country.

Adding to the significance of the event, the Tony Elumelu Foundation was praised for its ₦1 billion investment in women entrepreneurs, showcasing how strategic and purposeful partnerships can transform lives across communities.

In a profound gesture of empathy and care, Senator Oluremi Tinubu also donated ₦1 billion to assist victims of flood, banditry, boat mishaps, and fire disasters in Niger State, underlining the essence of true leadership — showing up for the most vulnerable in times of need.

The host, First Lady of Niger State, extended her heartfelt gratitude to her husband, His Excellency, Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, known widely as the Farmer Governor, for his unwavering support for women-centric policies and humanitarian initiatives.

Following the event, the First Lady paid courtesy visits to two of Nigeria’s esteemed elder statesmen — General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar — at their Hilltop residence in Minna. The visit was a quiet and graceful demonstration of respect, humility, and national unity.
