As Nigeria grapples with rising levels of social decay, corruption, and dwindling trust in public institutions, the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) is calling on all Nigerians to unite in pursuit of a national moral rebirth.
This call was made by the Association’s President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan, in a statement announcing the 12th Annual ALARHOSPS Summit, scheduled to hold from 12th to 13th August, 2025.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that there is a need for a rebirth towards the promotion and practicality of the highest ethical and moral standards,” Otunba Ojora-Adejiyan stated.
“We must accept our individual and collective guilt in terms of the present moral degradation and permissiveness.”
🧭 A NATION IN NEED OF DIRECTION
The call could not have come at a more critical time. Across Nigeria, citizens are witnessing the breakdown of values in public service, education, governance, and even in communities. While government reforms are essential, true national change must begin with the people—with a renewed sense of duty, empathy, and integrity.
The ALARHOSPS message is a timely reminder that moral failure is not limited to those in power—it is a shared national burden that demands collective reflection and action.
🌾 RECOGNITION FOR POSITIVE INITIATIVES
In the same statement, the Association commended the Lagos State Government for its strategic creation of the Lagos State Food Infrastructure Company (LAFINSCO), an initiative aimed at enhancing food security and promoting agricultural productivity across the state.
Such initiatives, they noted, reflect the kind of public service vision that prioritizes the common good over personal interest.
📣 SUMMIT AS A PLATFORM FOR CHANGE
This year’s summit, like those before it, serves as a platform for deep discussions on ethics, governance, and service delivery. Last year’s theme, “Agenda for Sustainable Development and Food Security”, helped shape ongoing national conversations around food security—highlighting the relevance of the summit as more than just a ceremonial event.
“The summit remains a veritable platform for offering useful contributions to state and national development,” said Sir Olusina Thorpe, Publicity Secretary of ALARHOSPS.
