The Delta State Police Command has arrested multiple suspects in two separate operations in Asaba, leading to the recovery of an English Beretta pistol, a stolen motorcycle, and other items.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development on Monday, noting that the breakthroughs were achieved through the proactive policing strategy of Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda.
The Arrests
On August 16, 2025, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), during a stop-and-search operation along DBS Road, Asaba, intercepted a 39-year-old man, Bassey Udoh, who was carrying a cross bag. A search on him led to the discovery of an English Beretta pistol. Preliminary investigation further linked Udoh to a burglary syndicate. He is currently in custody as investigations continue.
In a separate operation on August 11, 2025, a patrol team of the Eagle-Net Special Squad, working in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NHSS), arrested two suspects — Precious Okoro (27), an ex-convict, and Buhari Deyegu (18) — over the theft of a motorcycle.
Police disclosed that Okoro had only been released from Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Facility on August 6 after serving a two-year jail term for a similar offence.
