The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has repatriated 51 foreign nationals convicted and sentenced for cyber-terrorism and internet fraud.

The repatriated group comprises 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian, bringing the total number of repatriated convicted foreign nationals to 102 since the ongoing exercise commenced on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The convicts were among 192 foreign nationals arrested during a sting operation in Lagos, following actionable intelligence on the activities of one of Nigeria’s largest foreign-led cybercrime syndicates.

Authorities confirmed that further deportations are scheduled in the coming days, signaling continued enforcement against foreign individuals involved in cybercrime in the country.

This joint exercise underscores the EFCC and NIS’s commitment to tackling cybercrime, protecting Nigeria’s digital space, and ensuring that foreign nationals engaged in criminal activities are held accountable.
