The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial Zone, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, has condemned in strong terms the alarming trend of staged kidnappings, following a recent incident in Aniocha North.
According to Senator Nwoko, he received a distress call from a worried parent whose son was allegedly kidnapped. A viral video circulating online appeared to show the young man held in a forest. Immediate action was taken, as the Senator mobilized the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes for rescue operations.
However, subsequent investigations revealed that the supposed victim had orchestrated his own abduction.
Describing the incident as reckless and criminal, Senator Nwoko warned that such acts are alien to the values of Delta North people and pose serious dangers to society.
He noted that staged kidnappings:
-
Traumatize families and loved ones.
-
Waste vital security resources needed to tackle genuine threats.
-
Erode public trust in community safety.
-
Trivialize the suffering of real victims of kidnapping.
Senator Nwoko urged security agencies to ensure that the culprits face the full weight of the law, stressing that this will send a clear message that such deceit will not be tolerated.
“As Senator representing Delta North, I remain committed to safeguarding our communities, supporting security agencies, and ensuring that peace and trust prevail among our people,” he stated.
The Senator reiterated his commitment to policies and interventions that strengthen security, restore confidence in law enforcement, and protect residents of the senatorial district.
