The Delta State Government has officially awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Warri–Sapele–Benin Road dual carriageway, a major route linking key economic hubs in the state.
The project, which will stretch from the Spare Parts Market U-Turn in Effurun to after Ohore Junction before Omenta Bridge in Uvwie and Okpe Local Government Areas, was approved by the State Tenders Board and comes with a 12-month completion timeline.
According to the government, the reconstruction is designed to:
-
Ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles.
-
Improve road connectivity between Effurun, Warri, Sapele, and Benin.
-
Boost trade and economic activities along the strategic corridor.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, reaffirmed that the project reflects his administration’s commitment under the MORE Agenda to:
-
Drive infrastructure renewal across the state.
-
Promote sustainable urban development.
-
Deliver durable, high-quality roads to support long-term growth.
The Governor emphasized that upgrading critical road infrastructure is vital to supporting the movement of people, goods, and services, thereby strengthening Delta State’s role as a commercial hub in the South-South region.
